Mesa Family Dentistry office
01 — Foundation

General & restorative dentistry

The everyday work that keeps your mouth healthy and pain-free. Done well, in one place, by a dentist who has been practicing here since 1999.

Composite (white) fillings

Tooth-colored composite restorations that blend with your natural enamel — no silver showing when you smile or laugh.

Inlays & onlays

A conservative, custom-fit alternative when a tooth needs more than a filling but isn't ready for a full crown.

Porcelain crowns & bridges

Full-coverage restorations to protect a compromised tooth, or a bridge to span a gap. Impressions captured with our 3D scanner — no goopy trays.

Root canal therapy

Removes the infected or damaged nerve, eliminates the pain, and saves the tooth. We fully anesthetize the nerve before we begin — see the FAQ below.

Extractions & bone grafting

When a tooth has to come out, we extract carefully and, where appropriate, preserve bone with a graft so future implant or bridge options stay open.

Deep cleaning

Scaling and root planing for patients with gum disease — getting below the gumline to remove the buildup a routine cleaning can't reach.

Inside Mesa Family Dentistry
In Dr. Turner's words

"Implants are a superior way to replace missing teeth, in one area or the whole mouth. They help maintain bone in areas where teeth are missing."

02 — Replace what's missing

Dental implants

Implant technology has been used for many years and is, for most patients, better than dentures or partials for chewing and appearance.

1

Single tooth implants

If you've lost a tooth, an implant works similar to one of your natural teeth. In consultation with Dr. Turner, a periodontist surgically places the implant in your jaw. After healing, Dr. Turner places an abutment that connects the implant body to the crown you see above the gumline. The final restoration looks and functions like a natural tooth.

2

Full mouth implants — All-On-4®

If you have few or no teeth remaining, a full-mouth implant set can give you back your smile and your chewing ability. The All-On-4® method uses a series of 4-6 implants per arch to support a permanently placed prosthetic. The implants keep the prosthetic stable and preserve bone.

3

Implant-supported crowns & bridges

Whether you're replacing a single tooth or a span of teeth, an implant-supported restoration anchors directly to the jaw rather than relying on neighboring teeth for support.

If you're considering implants, please ask Dr. Turner about what options may be best for you. We hope we can make you smile.

03 — Brighten & refine

Cosmetic dentistry

Small, considered changes that make a meaningful difference in how your smile looks and feels.

Take-home custom bleaching trays

Custom-molded trays you wear at home on your schedule — built to fit your bite, not a one-size guard.

Laser stain removal

For deep extrinsic staining, the Waterlase MD can remove discoloration that bleaching trays alone won't budge.

Cosmetic gum recontouring

A laser-based reshaping of the gumline for a more balanced smile — quicker healing and less bleeding than traditional cutting.

04 — A specialty of this practice

Laser dentistry

Dr. Turner started his laser training in North Carolina in 2006 and purchased his Waterlase MD hard- and soft-tissue laser at the beginning of 2007. He holds an associate fellowship in soft-tissue lasers, plus an associate fellowship and a full fellowship in hard-tissue lasers — all from the World Clinical Laser Institute (WCLI).

In practical terms: many procedures can be done with less anesthetic, less bleeding, and faster healing than traditional tools allow.

01

Recontouring gums

Reshaping the gumline for cosmetic or restorative purposes.

02

Decontaminating infected gums

Targeted treatment of areas affected by periodontal disease.

03

Cold & canker sores

A quick laser treatment that can shorten healing time and reduce pain.

Tool

Waterlase MD

Hard- and soft-tissue laser, in continuous use in this practice since 2007.

05 — In the operatory

Modern technology, quieter visits

The office was built from scratch in 2020 around current tools and ergonomics — so the equipment you encounter on a routine visit is genuinely current, not retrofitted into an older space.

Imaging

Kavo Nomad handheld X-ray

Handheld intraoral X-ray units take clear digital images more quickly and with less radiation than older wall-mounted setups.

Impressions

3D in-mouth scanner

Impressions for crowns, bridges, and implants are captured digitally — no gooey material, no trays. You can watch the model build on screen as we scan.

Treatment

Waterlase MD laser

Hard- and soft-tissue laser used for gum recontouring, decontamination of infected tissue, cold sore treatment, and stain removal.

In plain English

Root canals, answered

The procedure most patients worry about most. Here is how Dr. Turner explains it.

Why do I need a root canal? +
If you have a damaged or infected nerve, it can lead to pain — which can be very significant at times. Removing the nerve with a root canal will eliminate that pain.
Do root canals hurt? +
The nerve is fully anesthetized before the start of a root canal treatment. There should be no pain while the affected nerve is being treated.
What happens after my root canal? +
Once the nerve is removed from the tooth, the tooth is essentially dead and becomes brittle over time. A dental crown is placed on the tooth to protect it once a root canal is completed.
What if I don't do a root canal? +
The pain or infection will get worse and possibly cause a medical situation. Treating it early is almost always easier than waiting.
